New members introduced to the team.
One young, loud and rather obnoxious.
Not someone I wanted to get to know.
Just someone I’d have to work with.
Early starts to the day often shared
we engaged in conversation.
We shared a sense of humour
and I admired their independence.
Suddenly the conversations ceased.
An apology offered in case I had offended.
Requests to discuss were dismissed,
and anger directed towards me.
Never any indication of what had happened.
No explanation ever provided.
I have no idea what I may have done,
but my assistance was still requested.
I’m distressed at the thought of having offended,
or something I had said or done misconstrued.
Perhaps my initial impressions were correct,
just someone I should never have met.
